Walks Calendar - SEPTEMBER 2020.

Please see the table at the end of the Walk Calendar for dates available on the next programme. 

PLEASE BE AWARE.  Satnav is given as a guide only and cannot be relied upon to take you to the meeting point, especially in a rural location.  The OS grid ref GR:  will  get you to within a 100 metre square.  Route directions in the programme should also get you to the meeting point. 

PLEASE NOTE! THE NUMBER OF WALKERS WILL BE LIMITED. YOU MUST CONTACT THE LEADER THE DAY BEFORE AT THE LATEST.  ON ARRIVAL STAY IN YOUR CAR UNTIL THE LEADER HAS SPOKEN TO YOU AND DO NOT MIX WITH ANY OTHER PERSON THAT MAY BE AT THE PARKING PLACE.  THIS WILL BE IN FORCE FROM MONDAY 14th SEPTEMBER 2020.

Leader: John H. (01934 633139 / 07799 307171). Meet: 10:30am Sth-West end of Edward Rd Clevedon      GR: ST 411 723.

Route:  Take  M5 to Jcn 20 then at the roundabout take third exit (Nailsea). Next roundabout take first exit (Portishead). Next roundabout take first exit (Town Centre), then first right (Dial Hill), at Tee Jcn turn right then first right (Park Rd) at Tee Jcn turn right (Thackeray Rd) then take fourth right (Edward Rd) nearly half a mile.

Grade: Moderate, hilly for four miles, flat for three miles, hill at the end. (repeat of 15th August 2018)

Apex Park – Burnham sea front - Highbridge - River Brue.  Satnav TA8 1NQ.  ///spenders.trio.drizzly

Leader: Jackie Morris (01278 785249) Meet: 10:30am Apex Park, Burnham-on-sea. GR: ST 310 480 Route: From M5 Jcn 22 take A38 signed Highbridge after 1.3 miles turn onto B3139 signed Burnham-on-sea after 0.6 miles turn left at mini roundabout (signed Apex Park). Entrance on left (200yds).  Grade: Moderate /Easy.

16th SEPTEMBER

Congresbury to Wrington via Westhay.         Satnav: BS49 5JA      ///price.wordplay.stopped

Leader: Tony Layland (01934 834786) Meet: 10:30am Congresbury Arms (formerly Ship & Castle) car park. Park away from pub at rear of car park which is a public car park. GR: ST 437 638 Route: From M5 Jcn 21 take A370 to Congresbury. Turn right at traffic lights signed Churchill B3133, CP immediately on left. Grade: Mainly flat with one long ascent. Good views if clear, could be muddy if wet.

Meet 10.30am Ebdon Arms CP. GR: ST 361 643.
Please note car park has no CCTV and cars are left at owners risk.

Route: Ebdon Road, pass the crematorium, at the second roundabout turn right into Wheatfields Road, first left into Lilac Road and first left to car park.
Grade: Easy with climb up steps to Sand Point. Picnic lunch, refreshments may be purchased at the pub after if wished.

Meet: 10:00am Thomas Fox Road Wellington GR: ST 218 126.

Route: M5 south to jcn 26. Take A38 to roundabout following B3187 towards Wellington. Follow this road to the town centre. At the second set of traffic lights turn right on B3187 towads Milverton. Continue on this road until the last modern house on the right. Turn into Thomas Fox Road for parking.
 Grade: Walk starts along the path of the old Grand Western Canal. It then meanders through some beautiful rolling countryside and a small interesting village.  but nothing difficult.

Wednesday 30th SEPTEMBER

Meet: 10.30am Church car park. (permission given)  GR: ST 262 284.
Route: M5 south to Jnc.24. A38 towards Taunton. Turn right onto A3259 (at bottom of dual carriageway), and immediately right again, Dolston Lane. (This right is a small lane immediately after your right off the dual carriageway so go slow). Follow this lane, pass Boome Lane on the right, and look for the driveway on your right the entrance to the Church car park. (opposite The Street on your left).
Grade: Moderate. A mixed and varied walk. Picnic.

 A chance to stretch your legs a little further afield.

Leader: Ken (01278 793453/07770721954).
Meet: 10.30am Spruce Ride car park GR: SO621118.
Route: M5 to cross over M48 bridge. Exit Jnc.2 A466 to Chepstow. At next roundabout turn right A48 to Lydney. In Lydney turn left onto B4234 and follow this through Parkend to the B4226 (Speech House Road). Turn right towards Speech House and after 1 mile turn right again onto the road just before Speech House. The car park is on your left in 250yds.
Grade: Moderate easy. Walking on forest paths and former railway line from the centre of the forest. Picnic.
From WsM 48 miles 1 hour. Please let me know if you intend to come otherwise the walk will not take place.
